OTHER CSR EFFORTS 2012

(1) NATIONAL POPULATION AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT BOARD, MALAYSIA (LPPKN)

This organisation was formed to contribute towards the development of quality population through the strengthening of families and promoting family wellbeing.
In conjunction with the World Population Day 2012, the Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) organized a condom donation on 10th July 2012; to the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), an agency under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development


(2) DONATION OF MANAGING YAA-HOOS BOOKS

As part of Medical-Latex (DUA) SDN BHD's support to local authors an their commitment to underprivilege youth:
(1) 170 books were distributed to various suppliers and customers bringing them a different dimension in management and daily life and
(2) 150 books were donated to deserving public schools or institutes of higher learning as selected.
The total investment in 320 books at MYR24,000 would give 320 hours of free teaching for underprivileged youth and refugees via Akasaas's time bank. EACH BOOK SOLD WILL CONTRIBUTE AN HOUR OF FREE TEACHING FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED YOUTH AND REFUGEES VIA THE AKASAA'S TIME BANK.

(3) Timebank

Medical-Latex (DUA) SDN BHD committed at it's own cost 1 man day per employee and its employees on their own accord 1 man day of their own time towards social causes approved by the company which would be organized by its "Kelab Sukan Dan Rekreasi". This would be implemented with effect from 2013.


Beiersdorf Medical-Latex (DUA) SDN BHD 25th Anniversary Special Awards were given to:

Award for mentoring true Corporate Social Responsibility in MLD.
Mr Ritchie Ramesh is the Founder and Director of Creative Strategies at Avec Communications. Nicknamed "Dr. Spin" by Deloitte, he has managed the profile of many luminaries which include the late Datuk Sudirman Hj Arshad. His creative mind also led to the authoring of many great books which include Spirit of Borneo: Martin &Osa Johnson's Journey 1920 & 1935 and Managing Yaa-hoos! True accounts of unscrupulous conduct & the 'nobodies' who change things. Above all, he is also the main person responsible to introduce all the CSR ideas for Medical Latex (DUA) SDN BHD which showed fruition on 02.11.2012.

Award in recognition of Outstanding Services & Contributions to Malaysia's Social Fabric.
Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, the chief guest of honour has a deep passion for CSR activities. She began her career in advocacy in the HIV/AIDS sector. A graduate of the University of Sussex, she was president of the Malaysia AIDS Council (MAC) for more than a decade and Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF). Through her work with MAC and MAF, Marina came into contact with numerous vulnerable groups, such as the transgender community, drug users, sex workers, migrant workers and people with HIV. After leaving her position as MAC president in 2006, Marina went on to focus on issues related to Islam and gender. She was voted into SIS's Board in 2009. Marina is co-executive producer of the award-winning young women's television series, 3R - Respect, Relax, Respond. She also co-produced the critically and commercially acclaimed Malaysian film Gol & Gincu, released in 2005, and which went on to spawn a successful television series. Marina is the daughter and eldest child of Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.


Services & Contributions to Malaysia's Social Fabric.

Dr Ulrich Nafe, our guest of honour is the ex CEO of Beiersdorf who served the company for 34 years until December 1993. He was born on September 14,1930 and is 82 years old today. He did his Business Studies at the Universities of Hamburg and Berlin and was head of various Beiersdorf departments across the globe before being appointed to the Beiersdorf board in 1977. Dr Nafe was very instrumental in the formation of Medical Latex and is called the "Father of Medical Latex".
